Looking for a CrossFit Alternative in Attleboro?
Maybe you like the idea of lifting weights, functional training, conditioning, and having a coach, but you're not looking for the traditional CrossFit experience.
Summit Training & Fitness gives you many of the things that make functional fitness effective in a different format.
At Summit, our 45-minute classes combine strength, functional movement, and conditioning into workouts designed to help you get stronger, improve your fitness, and stay consistent.
No CrossFit methodology. No chasing an RX score. Just a great workout that's coached for you.
Similar Goals. A Different Way to Train.
CrossFit and Summit have some obvious similarities.
Both incorporate strength training, conditioning, functional movements, and coached group workouts.
Where they differ is how the workout is structured.
CrossFit revolves around the Workout of the Day, or WOD, and places a strong emphasis on measurable performance — weights, repetitions, rounds, and finishing times. Workouts may also incorporate Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics skills, and high-intensity conditioning.
Summit takes a more straightforward approach.
We're not training you to become better at CrossFit.
We're training you to become stronger and more fit.
Your workout is programmed for the class, your coach helps determine what's appropriate for you, and your success isn't dependent on completing a prescribed workout faster or heavier than someone else.
Challenging Doesn't Have to Mean Complicated
You don't need to perform Olympic lifts, advanced gymnastics movements, or chase a score to have a challenging workout.
At Summit, we use weights, sleds, TRX, medicine balls, rowers, and other functional training equipment to build strength and conditioning together.
Your coach helps with your form, weight selection, movement choices, and intensity.
If something doesn't make sense for you, we change it.
If you're ready for more, we challenge you.
The goal isn't to complete the workout exactly as it was written.
The goal is to make the workout right for you.
Personal Without Becoming Your Whole Social Life
CrossFit is well known for its community, and for many people that's one of its biggest attractions.
But not everyone is looking for their gym to become their entire social circle.
Summit is personal in a different way.
Our coaches know your name. They know how you train. They care about your progress.
You'll recognize the people you work out with, people will notice when you're there, and you'll feel like you belong.
But you don't need to become part of an inner circle, compete with your classmates, or make the gym your identity to fit in.
You can come in, work hard, enjoy the people around you, and go live the rest of your life.
CrossFit or Summit?
CrossFit may be a great fit if you want the CrossFit methodology, WOD-style training, Olympic lifting and gymnastics skills, tracking scores and benchmarks, and a highly involved CrossFit community.
Summit may be a better fit if you want straightforward strength and conditioning, 45-minute workouts, personal coaching, functional training without the CrossFit methodology, and a welcoming environment that doesn't require you to make fitness your lifestyle.
Both can give you a challenging workout.
The difference is how you want to train.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Summit CrossFit?
No. Summit Training & Fitness is an independent strength and conditioning gym and is not a CrossFit affiliate. We use strength training, functional movement, and conditioning, but we do not follow the CrossFit methodology or WOD format.
Do Summit workouts include Olympic lifting or gymnastics?
Summit's focus is straightforward strength and functional fitness rather than training specifically for Olympic weightlifting or gymnastics skills. Our goal is to choose movements that help our members become stronger, fitter, and more capable.
Do I have to compete or track my workout score?
No. Summit isn't built around RX standards, leaderboard times, or comparing your performance with the person next to you. Your coach's focus is helping you get the right workout for your ability and continue progressing.
Is Summit less intense than CrossFit?
Not necessarily. Summit workouts can be very challenging. The difference is that intensity is adjusted to the individual rather than being the goal by itself.
Do I need experience before trying Summit?
No. Your coach can adjust the movements, weights, pace, and intensity to where you are today.
